Kybella® Injections (Nonsurgical Neck Liposuction)

Board-certified Plastic Surgeon Dr. Deborah Ekstrom offers Kybella® injections to improve the neckline. At Salisbury Plastic Surgery in Worcester, MA, we understand that achieving the look you desire with exercise alone is not always possible. Which is why we are so thrilled to provide the latest cosmetic treatment to diminish the appearance of a double chin with Kybella®. The nonsurgical injection uses deoxycholic acid to specifically target and break down fat cells underneath the chin. The result will leave you with a slimmer neckline. Multiple treatments may be needed to achieve an optimal outcome.

Ideal Candidates

The best candidates for Kybella®:
  • Have moderate to severe fat beneath the chin, which gives the appearance of a double chin, but have good skin tone
  • Desire a nonsurgical approach for fat reduction
  • Desire long-term results
  • Desire natural-looking results
  • Commit to multiple procedures to achieve the desired result

What to Expect

A number of small injections will be made in the fat under the chin during this outpatient procedure. Dr. Ekstrom uses the Blaine Labs vibrator with all of his cosmetic injections to minimize discomfort during the injections. The treatment typically lasts around 5 to 10 minutes. 2 – 6 treatments are usually ideal for optimal results.

Anticipated Results

After Kybella®, there is no downtime, but patients might experience mild pain, swelling, bruising, numbness, redness, and areas of hardness in the injection site. These side effects could last 2 – 3 days. Some patients may notice a reduction of fat after just a single treatment, but most patients will notice improvements after 2 or 3 treatments.

Diet and exercise aren’t always enough to combat a double chin and sometimes, liposuction surgery isn’t a viable option.
