What to Expect
Thigh lift surgery is performed quite often by plastic surgeons, especially now with so many
successful weight loss surgery patients. This surgery is performed in an outpatient setting.
The incision for the thigh lift varies from patient to patient, depending on what type of
thigh lift is being performed (medial, lateral, etc.), as well as the amount, location, and
severity of the loose skin being removed. This cosmetic procedure is performed with the
patient under deep sedation and a local anesthetic or a light general and usually takes a
few hours in the operating room. As discussed in the consultation, patients can expect there
to be swelling, bruising, and some discomfort after surgery, all of which can be managed
accordingly.
