Thigh lift surgery: what to expect
Thigh lift surgery is performed quite often by plastic surgeons, especially now with so many successful weight loss surgery patients. This surgery is performed in an outpatient setting. The incision for the thigh lift varies from patient to patient, depending on what type of thigh lift is being performed (medial, lateral, etc.), as well as the amount, location, and severity of the loose skin being removed.
This cosmetic procedure is performed with the patient under deep sedation and a local anesthetic or a light general and usually takes a few hours in the operating room. As discussed in the consultation, patients can expect there to be swelling, bruising, and some discomfort after surgery, all of which can be managed accordingly.

Thigh lift recovery and results
After the thigh lift, you can expect to see smoother skin with less dimpling or visible cellulite. As each patient’s surgery is different, it is hard to estimate how long the recovery may be. It is recommended to follow all of the aftercare instructions and scar treatments as prescribed by the surgeon. All patients should wait to resume strenuous physical activity until released from the surgeon at the follow-up appointments.
