Voluma® in Worcester, MA

The aging process often results in loss of skin volume due to reduced hyaluronic acid production in the body. Voluma® is a dermal filler that delivers hyaluronic acid to the skin cells, producing a smoother, more youthful appearance. In Massachusetts, Salisbury Plastic Surgery, led by board-certified plastic surgeon Dr. Deborah K. Ekstrom, is a leading provider of Voluma® and other dermal fillers for residents of Worcester, Shrewsbury and surrounding areas.

What Is Voluma®?

Voluma® is the first FDA-approved dermal injection that specifically addresses loss of skin volume in the cheeks and midsection of the face. Voluma® delivers hyaluronic acid, similar to that naturally produced by healthy skin cells, that binds with water and helps skin absorb and retain moisture. Voluma® gradually augments volume and fullness in the skin to create a smoother, younger appearance.

Benefits of Voluma®

Voluma® is a superior dermal gel filler that was developed specifically to add fullness to the cheeks and mid-face area that has lost volume due to aging. Voluma® is extremely effective and produces natural-looking results that last up to two years, thus saving money because fewer treatments are required.  Patients who have used other dermal injections are often impressed with the results that Voluma® provides.

Who Is a Good Candidate for Voluma®?

Voluma® is approved for use in adult patients aged 21 and older who are in good physical condition. Voluma® softens and smooths lines and wrinkles in younger individuals who show early signs of aging, but it may be used by people of any age. Voluma® may also be combined with other dermal fillers, such as Botox®, for a more comprehensive treatment.

How Should I Prepare For Voluma®?

Prior to your appointment you must discuss any history of allergies or medical conditions with Dr. Ekstrom, as well as any other dermal injections you’ve received recently and any medications you are taking. Dr. Ekstrom may recommend suspending the use of certain medications that increase your risk of bleeding or bruising, such as blood thinners, non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs), ibuprofen, aspirin, and supplements such as Vitamin E and St. John’s Wort prior to treatment.

How Does Voluma® Work?

Voluma® is injected directly into the skin using long, flexible micro-cannulas that resemble very fine needles. Voluma® employs Vycross™ technology, and delivers an extremely lightweight formula that allows the gel solution to penetrate the skin, easily adding volume to the contours of the face. This technique requires fewer injections and reduces the patient’s discomfort.  Voluma® has the unique ability to lift the skin surrounding the injection site, reducing wrinkles and fine lines around the entire treatment area.

How Much Does Voluma® Cost In Worcester?

Our office offers a variety of payment options to choose from, including easy financing methods, to cover the Voluma® treatment. The cost of treatment will vary between patients depending on the amount of product and number of injections that is required.
